Traditional water heaters require a large amount of water to be heated at all times.  This can significantly effect energy costs.  Water is retained internally, which can cause sediment build up overtime.  This would then require periodic draining to prevent corrosion, which can occur due to rusting.  Maintenance can be difficult and can become costly.

Unlike traditional water heaters, tankless water heaters do not require large amounts of water to be heated.  The tankless system only heats water as needed, which means that a lot less energy is being used each month.  Water temperature is controlled by the unit, which means temperature level spikes are not as likely to occur.  These devices are also a small portion of the size of the older units and often don’t need piping or rewiring during installation.  They can be mounted on the wall or installed internally into a building’s structure.  These systems may also be tax deductible, so don’t forget to check with your tax preparer for deductions or incentives.

Lifespan
